Contra Costa Recorder Public Records

The Contra Costa Official Records Index is the strongest public records portal for Danville names tied to land, liens, maps, trust deeds, judgments, UCC filings, powers of attorney, homesteads, notices of default, and old grantor-grantee books. The modern index begins January 1, 1986, and the old book path reaches back to January 1, 1849 through staged grantor and grantee ranges.

Assessor counter fees matter when the portal stops short. Danville Vital Public Records

Vital records are not a simple open web index in California. Contra Costa Clerk-Recorder and CDPH issue birth, death, and marriage records, but Health and Safety Code section 103526 controls authorized certified copies. A requester who qualifies for an authorized copy must provide the sworn statement required by the application. If that sworn statement is omitted for an authorized copy request, CDPH says the request is rejected as incomplete.

People who do not qualify for an authorized identity-use copy may receive a certified informational copy marked "Informational, Not a Valid Document to Establish Identity." Contra Costa marriage certificate materials state that the county maintains marriage certificates from 1905 to present. AB 64 increased certified copy fees for birth, death, and marriage records by $2 per copy effective January 1, 2026, according to county fee notices in the research.

Danville Police and Jail Records

Danville contracts with the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff for police services. Voter registration records are a special category, not just another public records portal. California voter-file access is governed by Elections Code sections 2166, 2166.5, 2166.7, 2166.8, 2166.9, 2188, 2194, and 18109(b). Public release excludes driver license or ID numbers, Social Security number fragments, unique identifiers, and signatures. Confidential voters and Safe at Home participants are withheld or protected.

Business and professional public records are more open as lookups. The UCC search covers debtor, secured party, and file-number searches. The California Department of Consumer Affairs License Search confirms license status and discipline for many regulated professions, with board-specific lookups for attorneys, contractors, real estate, medical, teaching, and other fields.

Recent Danville Records Changes

Several recent items affect Danville public records access. Contra Costa Superior Court reported a 2026 Court Records move to Wakefield Taylor Courthouse and a scanning project involving 12 million pieces of paper toward paperless case files and web portal access. That project can improve future access, but scanned microfiche, microfilm, and paper records may still delay requests.

Contra Costa's real-estate fraud notification program adds a protective record layer: when a title transfer records, the original homeowner receives a bilingual notification letter with a copy of the recorded document and a request to confirm whether the transfer was authorized. The county also warned about property assessment appeal mailer scams and explained that the Assessor's informal value review does not require the private fees described in those solicitations.
