Look Up Danville Voter Registration
Danville voters have two official lookup routes. The California Secretary of State runs My Voter Status, and Contra Costa Elections runs My Voting Information. These tools are for checking a voter's own registration status and election information. They are not unrestricted browse-all-voters directories.
The Contra Costa lookup page is the county-level entry point for Danville voter registration status, districts, polling place, guide, and vote-by-mail information.
When the lookup does not show what is needed, the fallback is not a general web search. Use Contra Costa Elections or the Secretary of State voter-file request process, with the purpose and requester information required by California law.

Two Danville Voter Tools
The state and county tools answer different questions. My Voter Status is statewide and can confirm a California registration record and voting details for the person entering the required information. Contra Costa My Voting Information is local to the county and adds county election details such as districts, elected officials, polling place, voter information guide, and vote-by-mail status.
Danville's city boundary is not the same as every election boundary. The town sits in Contra Costa County, and district lines may cross municipal, school, utility, and state legislative boundaries. That is why the county lookup can be more useful than a city-only search when the question involves a polling place, district, or official roster.
Lookup limit. A Danville voter registration lookup is not proof of how someone voted; election participation history never shows ballot choices.
California Voter Records Fields
California voter registration records can include more detail than the public lookup tools show. A file request may include name, date of birth, registration date, residential and mailing address, precinct, contact information, party preference, and requested voting history or district data. The exact fields depend on whether the requester asks for a statewide file, a specific voter record, a county file, history data, or district data.

Confidential by law. Elections Code section 2194 excludes driver license or ID numbers, Social Security number fragments, unique identifiers, and signatures from public release, and confidential voters are protected under related California statutes.
Get California Voter File
The Secretary of State's voter registration information file request process allows access only for election, scholarly, journalistic, political, or governmental purposes. A statewide file costs $100. A specific voter record costs $30 per record up to $100. The Secretary of State says review and processing take 7 to 14 business days after the application is received, assuming the request is complete and the use is permitted.
Contra Costa Elections also accepts county voter data applications for county-specific data or viewing. The county request is narrower because it covers voters from Contra Costa County rather than the entire state. Danville voter registration records therefore may be requested through the county when the requester needs local election data rather than a statewide extract.

The purpose statement is not a formality. It determines whether the file can be released.
Commercial misuse, unauthorized redistribution, and use outside the approved categories can trigger penalties. A requester must also protect the data after receipt. Voter History Is Not Choices
Participation history is often misunderstood. California voter history can show whether a voter participated in a particular election and may show a method, such as vote-by-mail or polling-place voting. It does not reveal the candidates, parties, or measures selected on a ballot. Ballot secrecy remains separate from voter registration records.
That distinction matters for Danville research. Voter rolls can confirm civic geography, address history, party preference where included, and participation status for permitted requesters. They cannot be used to reconstruct a person's private ballot. Misstating that point can turn a legitimate public-records use into a misleading or unlawful claim.
Historical Danville Voter Rolls
Older voter records may appear under Danville, San Ramon Valley, Alamo-Danville, precinct names, township names, or Contra Costa County. Danville incorporated in 1982, so older poll books and registration registers may not use the modern town label.
